Hello! My name is Candace. I am the owner of Many Stories Therapy.
When I started down the path of becoming a therapist, I majored in psychology and conflict resolution at the University of Winnipeg and went on to complete a master's in Clinical Social Work at the University of Manitoba. I completed an advanced narrative therapy apprenticeship with the founder of narrative therapy, David Epston.
With 18 years of experience working with youth and adults in community agencies, health care, university, and independent practice settings, I bring much care, passion, and commitment to this work.
It is because that too often traditional kinds of counselling/therapy offers one-size-fits-all advice, oversimplifies issues, ignores people's contexts and matters of injustice and puts people in psychological boxes, that I have come to view therapy as being best understood as being about stories and what it looks like to 'do some justice' to them.
I grew up in rural south-eastern Manitoba and I am part country-kid at heart who loves nature, animals, music, baseball, dancing, reading,
continuous learning, and thinking critically about what it really means to be well in our complicated world.
